Project Description

Working with custom instruments presents a unique challenge. For this RS Williams & Sons model, extensive restoration and replacements were needed. I began by resetting the neck, leveled the fingerboard, installing new frets, and re-gluing the bridge.

Next, I modified it with a new slot for a bone saddle, reinstalled four braces, and fixed a 7-inch crack alongside of the guitar.

With these repairs made, and a new French polish, it’s hard to tell this guitar was ever damaged.
